Off to a busy start, already on holiday in Hawke's Bay, we immediately proceeded to discover for ourselves the rugged country down the East Coast of Wairarapa. A week thereafter we were up the SkyTower, and a week after that out on the Western beaches beyond the Waitakere Range, down to the Auckland Botanic Gardens, beyond to the North-West Waikato, back home via Port Waikato estuary. One of these days we might take a holiday in which we relax and do little, but I wouldn't hold my breath!

Things still did not slow down mid-year, as we took a weekend away in Christchurch, enjoying more of the city than the previous quick stops. Also made the day trip over the Bombays to Hamilton Zoo, to see their new arrival Rhinoceros. Then, combining multiple agendas over a single extra-long weekend, we stopped off at the Central Plateau for Rosie's birthday, once again; stayed with my Nana in Wainuiomata, and while there attended a good friends' wedding; then returned to Auckland via Hawke's Bay and our parents.

Moving into the latter quarter we had no plans to go away - until a spur of the moment flurry of organisation saw us flying again to Christchurch, this time to rent a car and undertake a ten day road-trip of the middle and bottom of the South Island. We racked up an impressive count of kilometres and photos, and came away with a hunger to return another time.

Finally, we near the end of another action-packed year. But still we do not go quietly into the night, instead being awed by U2's latest stage design as they brought their 360 tour down-under, swelling the capacity of Mt Smart stadium to an unprecedented 50K+. And then, since Linkin Park didn't see their way to coming to NZ, we saw our way to seeing them in Sydney, working in the V8 Supercars Telstra 500 for the second year running, with the ability to explore yet more of that city during the intervening week.

Next year promises to be slower at least; as Rosie studies hard at teacher's training at Massey Albany, our ability to wantonly holiday will be hampered somewhat. But then we'll just have to wait and see...
